Apparently I’m not the only light-skinned girl who calls herself ethnically ambiguous. I googled it and found a few other blogs with the same blog title. Hmph. So I changed my title. I’ve been mulling this over for about a month now. I hope you dig it. Be sure to update your bookmark for my blog! I’d hate for you to miss another installment of someone saying something wildly off color (pun intended) or racist to me. Occasionally people say nice things to me when they find out I’m black, like “You’re so pretty!” “Thanks!” I reply. (And then I start second-guessing the compliment and wonder if they’re implying that black women who aren’t light-skinned aren’t pretty?) Or “You have GOOD hair!” (And then I remember why Chris Rock made a documentary with a similar name.) My brain never stops. Neither do the stares. Or double-takes.
